:::CPR021::: The Winstones - Splayed
Every generation has its artist that perfectly embodies the concerns, artistry and aesthetic principles that define it. In many ways, Winston is that artist and this generation of know-nothing, ipad-swiping, blog-buzzing ingrates have whats coming to them.
Culling from a vast history of work in the field of fine purring, experimental lounging and ground breaking poop burying, Winston brings forth an artistic sensitivty, that in Splayed, busts a paw sized hole in the world of indie rock chicanery.
While a seemingly modest first foray into music has Winston scrounging under the rug to bring forth a 4-song EP, it can not be denied the achievments that lay beneath this surface of this release. From the lead off track of "I was Cold, I Moved into the Sun" (which gives pretty boy James Blake a run for his money) to the thunderous dub step styling of "Scoop the Clumps(radio edit)", Winston's influences seem to be all over the map. His deft execution of divergent styles is really what makes the difference.
To resort to puns and humor (ex. "Splayed" is the cat's meow!) would be inappropriate when referring to this massive contribution to contemporary music.
Feline or human, Winston is heads and tails over the competition. An EP for the ages.
